Hein Deprez is Executive Chairman and reference shareholder of Greenyard (a listed company) : a global market leader in fresh and prepared fruits and vegetables, flowers and plants, fresh logistic services and growing media. With more than 8,000 employees operating in 26 countries worldwide, Greenyard identifies its own people and its key customer and supplier relationships as the assets that enable the group to deliver products and services worth almost €4 billion a year. The vision of the group is: “To make lives healthier by helping peopleto enjoy fruit and vegetables at any moment in an easy, fast and pleasurable way whilst fostering nature.” Greenyard consists of: Greenyard Fresh (formerly UNIVEG) Starting out with a mushroom farm in Belgium in 1983, Hein Deprez founded UNIVEG in 1987. In the market of fresh fruit and vegetables, Greenyard’s Fresh division is now the third largest supplier in the world with a turnover of 3.3 billion EUR and 5,600 employees, active in 21 countries and focuses on 3 business activities: fruit & vegetables, flowers & plants and logistics & transport. Greenyard Frozen and Greenyard Prepared (formerly Pinguin & Noliko / Greenyard Foods) Since 2006 Hein Deprez has been reference shareholder of Greenyard Foods: he was CEO of the company from 2010 to 2013, and since 2014 Chairman of the Board. Now both companies are one of the largest producers of frozen and prepared vegetables in Europe. Pinguin and Noliko celebrated their 50 years existence in 2015. Greenyard Horticulture (formerly Peltracom) As from 2003 Hein Deprez is also the owner of Peatinvest, a European market leader in quality peat substrates and potting soils and one of the top 5 companies in its industry. Greenyard Horticulture has been involved in the horticultural sector for 30 years and employs 400 people. Their wide range of potting soils is marketed under the Peltracom brand for the professional market and Agrofino for the hobby market. Hein Deprez is also majority shareholder and Executive Chairman of “Orchards Invest” and “The Fruit Farm Group”: together 8000 hectares of plantations in Argentina, South Africa, Brazil, Turkey, Suriname, Uruguay, Costa Rica and Spain. These companies employ 5000 people.
